#HOW OLD IS A LINK BETWEEN WORLDS ZELDA SERIES#
I’ve been meaning to write about some of my findings, so let’s consider this the first in a small series of ALBW articles.

Both Ryutaro Kanno and Takayuki Ikkaku have worked on New Super Mario Bros. A few years ago I documented the Japanese and English versions of The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds in great detail. There's a New Super Mario Bros.-style signpost here instead of a standard Legend of Zelda one. The Lost Woods have been recreated, but the area doesn't quite resemble the original from A Link to the Past. Kanno focused on recreating areas from A Link to the Past in three dimensions, while Ikkaku created some new locations. Indeed, the leftover areas tied to their names reflect their roles in development. According to the credits, Kanno was responsible for field planning, while Ikkaku worked on dungeon planning. These two people are Ryutaro Kanno and Takayuki Ikkaku. It is Zelda tradition that each dungeon contains a new item that is mainly used.
#HOW OLD IS A LINK BETWEEN WORLDS ZELDA PORTABLE#
There are two sets of unused areas, designed by different staff members. As my origins with Zelda and company began on hand-helds with Link’s Awakening, the 3DS’ A Link Between Worlds feels like a nostalgia trip in more ways than one it not only sees the return of the top-down perspective last seen in 2004s The Minish Cap, but proves to be the most fun I’ve had with a portable Zelda title for the last decade. Carrying on the theme of taking something old and making it feel new, is A Link Between Worlds’ approach to items.

This early wall texture was seen in the Nintendo direct of April 2013 and is located in the Tower of Hera's sky files (file_00046.bch located in DungeonHera1.szs) assigned/applied to a unused area in the model vr_Hera_mountain, which is an early entrance to the Tower of Hera.
